A very special new weekly activity awaits you this summer!

On our Blauerhof farm in the nearby Funes Valley, our organic vegetable garden covers an area of about 2000 square metres. Here we apply the principles of permaculture and other agricultural practices such as biodynamic and organic farming.

Every single plant (“Demeter” certified) of our wide variety of vegetables, including some forgotten varieties, is planted from its original form: the seed.

Harvesting is done twice a week and the colorful variety of vegetables is delivered directly to the hotel to delight your palate with fresh, wholesome dishes.

The ‘vegetable garden workshop’, a new activity of our summer weekly program, gives you the chance to discover the origin of the vegetable products used in our cuisine.

You will start by bus from the hotel to the small village of St Magdalena in the neighboring Val di Funes, where you will be guided through the Val di Funes mountain herb garden to the St Magdalena church before reaching your final destination: the Blauerhof farm. Once there, you will be greeted by a snack of vegetables straight from our garden before the focus turns to an explanation of the variety of Alpine cultivation methods and the particularities of gardening and cultivation.

You will discuss about the organization of the garden, how to deal with weeds and the harvesting. We will share with you practical tips and tricks as well as insights into environmentally conscious cultivationmethods and sustainable practices for healthy soil and plants. Last but not least, you will also be introduced to the philosophy and principles of the alpine garden, which are behind this special place. After the vegetable tasting, a 300-metres walk to the Santa Magdalena´s panorama viewpoint will conclude the workshop. In the late afternoon, the light and the view of the spectacular Dolomitelandscape are particularly impressive.
